Don Cherry Trio + Guests - Live in Copenhagen (1970) - Disc 1

On October 2nd to 4th of 1970, the Don Cherry Trio, consisting of Don Cherry (cornet, flutes and a variety of other instruments), Johnny Dyani (bass, percussion) and Makaya Ntshoko (drums, percussion) performed a series of concerts at the Bristol Music Centre in Copenhagen. During part of the sessions they were joined by Dan Nedergaard (trumpet) and Mogens Bollerup (tenor sax and flute).

This is the first of three discs documenting these live performances. All the tracks are “untitled,” consisting largely of free improvisation, allthough there are occasional references to some of Don Cherry’s compositions and to Albert Ayler’s “Ghosts.”

This is the second instalment of my series of live performances by the Don Cherry Trio in Copenhagen during October 2nd to 4th, 1970.
